Have you ever wondered what it would be like to spend the night at a museum? Well, if you’re a fan of the Museum of Natural History in New York City, you’re in luck! The museum offers an exclusive experience for children and adults alike – a sleepover party at the museum!
What is the Sleepover?
The sleepover party at the Museum of Natural History is an overnight adventure that allows visitors to explore the museum after hours and spend the night in one of its galleries. The event is open to families with children aged 6-13 years old, as well as adult groups.
What Happens During the Sleepover?
The sleepover party begins with check-in at 5:45 pm, where participants receive a badge and are shown to their sleeping area. Then, they get to explore the museum’s exhibits and participate in various activities such as scavenger hunts, live-animal presentations, and IMAX movies before settling down for bed.
Some popular activities during the sleepover include:
- Guided tours of exhibits
- Treasure hunts
- Animal presentations
- Fossil exploration
- IMAX movies
- Crafts and games
After all the fun activities have concluded, it’s time for bed. Participants can choose between sleeping under the iconic blue whale in Milstein Hall or among dioramas of African mammals in Akeley Hall.
What Should You Bring?
Guests are encouraged to bring their sleeping bags, pillows, and overnight essentials (toothbrushes/toothpaste). All other materials such as cots and flashlights are provided by the Museum. No outside food or drink is allowed; however, snacks will be provided throughout the night.
How Much Does it Cost?
The cost of the sleepover party is $145 per person, which includes admission to the museum, all activities, and a light evening snack and breakfast.
The Museum of Natural History’s sleepover party is a unique way to experience the museum’s exhibits and spend the night in one of New York City’s most iconic landmarks. It’s an adventure that will be cherished by both children and adults alike. The event only happens a few times a year, so if you’re interested in participating, it’s best to book your tickets early!
