How God Spoke During the Life of Jesus?

Throughout the life of Jesus, God spoke to him in various ways. Let’s explore some of those instances.

Through Angels

One of the most well-known instances of God speaking to Jesus through an angel was when the angel Gabriel appeared to Mary and announced that she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit. This child would be the Son of God (Luke 1:26-38). Similarly, an angel also appeared to Joseph in a dream and instructed him to take Mary as his wife and raise Jesus as his own son (Matthew 1:20-21).

Through Dreams

God also spoke to Jesus through dreams. Joseph, who was warned by an angel in a dream, was instructed by God to take Mary and Jesus and flee to Egypt (Matthew 2:13-15).

In Prayer

Jesus spent much time in prayer throughout his life. In fact, before he started his public ministry, he went into the wilderness for forty days and nights to fast and pray (Matthew 4:1-11). During this time, Satan tempted him, but Jesus remained steadfast in his faith.

Through Miracles

Another way that God spoke during the life of Jesus was through miracles. For example, when Jesus healed the paralyzed man who had been lowered through a roof by his friends, he forgave the man’s sins (Mark 2:1-12). In doing so, he revealed that he had authority on earth to forgive sins.

Through Scripture

Jesus also knew scripture intimately and often quoted it. When he was tempted by Satan in the wilderness, he responded with scripture (Matthew 4:4-10). He also quoted scripture when teaching others about God’s kingdom.

Conclusion

In conclusion, there were many ways that God spoke to Jesus during his life on earth. He spoke through angels, dreams, prayer, miracles, and scripture.

As we seek to follow Jesus today, we can also look to these same ways that God speaks to us. We can pray, read scripture, listen for his voice in dreams and visions, and watch for his work in the world around us.
