What Did Jesus Tell His Disciples When He Was Leaving?

When Jesus was leaving his disciples, he left them with some important words of wisdom that they would hold onto for the rest of their lives. These teachings have been passed down through generations and continue to inspire Christians around the world today.

Love One Another

One of the most important things that Jesus told his disciples was to love one another. He explained that this commandment was not just a suggestion but a requirement for those who wanted to follow him.

Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)

Go and Make Disciples

Jesus also told his disciples to go and make disciples of all nations. He wanted them to spread the good news of his teachings and share it with as many people as possible.

Jesus said, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)

Forgive Others

Another important lesson that Jesus taught his disciples was about forgiveness. He emphasized how important it was for them to forgive others so that they could be forgiven by God.

Jesus said, “For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:14-15)

Trust in God

Finally, Jesus told his disciples to trust in God and to have faith that he would always be there for them. He wanted them to know that even though he was leaving, they would never be alone.

Jesus said, “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms.

If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also.” (John 14:1-3)

In conclusion, Jesus left his disciples with some important messages that continue to inspire Christians around the world today. He emphasized the importance of love, forgiveness, trust in God, and spreading the good news of his teachings. These teachings remind us of the importance of living a life of compassion and faithfulness towards one another.
