The Warnings of Jesus Christ
Jesus warned his disciples about the following:
1. False Prophets
Jesus cautioned his followers to beware of false prophets who would come to them dressed in sheep’s clothing but inwardly were ravenous wolves. He urged them to be vigilant and discerning so that they could identify these imposters.
Matthew 7:15-16 says:
“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.”
2. Persecution
Jesus also warned his disciples that they would face persecution for their faith. He told them that they would be hated by all because of him, but that they should not fear or be discouraged because he would always be with them.
John 15:18-19 says:
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own.
As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. “
3. Temptation
Jesus also warned his disciples about temptation and how it could lead them astray from God’s will for their lives. He told them that if their right hand caused them to stumble, they should cut it off because it was better for them to enter life maimed than to have two hands and go into hell.
Matthew 5:29-30 says:
“If your right eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. “
4. Hypocrisy
Jesus also warned his disciples about the dangers of hypocrisy. He rebuked the religious leaders of his time for their hypocrisy and urged his followers not to follow their example.
Luke 12:1 says:
“Be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.”
