After the resurrection of Jesus, many people were left wondering what happened next. The Bible tells us that Jesus appeared to his followers for 40 days before ascending into heaven.
The resurrection of Jesus is one of the most significant events in Christian history. According to the Bible, Jesus was crucified and buried in a tomb. However, on the third day, he rose from the dead and appeared to his followers.
Appearances of Jesus
Jesus appeared to many people after his resurrection. He first appeared to Mary Magdalene at the tomb where he had been buried.
He then appeared to two disciples on the road to Emmaus. Later that day, he appeared to his disciples, who were hiding in a room.
John 20:19-20 says “On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.”
Jesus continued to appear to his followers over a period of 40 days. During this time, he taught them about God’s kingdom and helped them understand what had happened.
After 40 days, Jesus ascended into heaven. Acts 1:9-11 says “After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. ‘Men of Galilee,’ they said, ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.'”
