When it comes to my life, Jesus plays a significant role. He is not just an individual who lived some 2,000 years ago, but someone who guides me every day. As a Christian, I believe that Jesus is the Son of God who came to earth to save humanity from sin and death.
But what does that mean for me personally? How does Jesus impact my everyday life? In this article, we will explore the role of Jesus in my life.
Jesus as my Savior
First and foremost, Jesus is my Savior. Through his death on the cross and resurrection from the dead, he defeated sin and death once and for all.
As a result, I am forgiven of my sins and have eternal life in heaven with God. This gives me hope and peace that no matter what happens in this life, I have a future with God.
John 3:16 says: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
Jesus as my Guide
In addition to being my Savior, Jesus is also my guide. He provides me with direction and wisdom through his teachings in the Bible. When I am unsure about what to do or how to handle a situation, I can turn to him for guidance.
John 14:6 says: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
The Role of Prayer
One way I connect with Jesus as my guide is through prayer. Prayer is simply talking to God and sharing our thoughts, feelings, concerns, hopes, and dreams with him. It’s an opportunity for me to express gratitude for all that he has done for me and ask for help when I need it.
Philippians 4:6-7 says: “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Jesus as my Example
Finally, Jesus is my example. He lived a perfect life and showed us how to love God and love others. As I strive to follow him, I am challenged to live a life of compassion, forgiveness, humility, and service.
Matthew 20:28 says: “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
The Role of Community
One way I am able to follow Jesus’ example is through community. By gathering with other Christians in church or small groups, I am able to learn from others and support one another in our faith journeys.
Hebrews 10:24-25 says: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
In conclusion, Jesus plays a vital role in my life. He is my Savior who gives me hope for the future.
He is my guide who provides me with direction and wisdom. He is my example who challenges me to live a life of love and service. And he does all this through his teachings in the Bible and the community of believers around me.
As a Christian, I am grateful for all that Jesus has done for me. I know that I am not perfect and will make mistakes, but I take comfort in knowing that Jesus is always with me, guiding me every step of the way.
