What Kind of Life Did Jesus Give Us?

This is a question that has been asked by many people throughout history.

For Christians, the answer to this question is clear – Jesus gave us eternal life. But what does this mean, and how does it impact our lives here on earth

Eternal Life

Eternal life is a concept that can be difficult to fully grasp. It means that after we die, we will spend eternity with God in heaven.

This is made possible through our faith in Jesus Christ and his sacrifice on the cross for our sins. As Christians, we believe that Jesus conquered death and that because of him, we too can have eternal life.

Freedom from Sin

But eternal life isn’t just something that happens after we die – it’s something that impacts our lives here on earth as well. When we put our faith in Jesus, we are freed from the power of sin in our lives. This means that we no longer have to be slaves to our sinful desires and can instead live a life pleasing to God.

John 8:36 says, “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

New Identity

In addition to freedom from sin, Jesus also gives us a new identity. Instead of being defined by our past mistakes or shortcomings, we are now seen as children of God.

1 John 3:1 says, “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”

This new identity gives us confidence and hope for the future.

Relationship with God

Finally, through Jesus Christ, we are able to have a relationship with God himself. This relationship is not based on anything we have done or could ever do – it’s based solely on God’s grace and love for us.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”

Through our relationship with God, we can experience his love, joy, peace, and all the other fruits of the Holy Spirit.

Conclusion

So what kind of life did Jesus give us He gave us eternal life, freedom from sin, a new identity as children of God, and a relationship with our Heavenly Father.

These gifts are not just for the future – they impact our lives here on earth as well. As we live out our faith in Jesus Christ, we can experience the abundant life that he promised in John 10:10 – “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
