When Did Jesus Bring Someone Back to Life?

When we talk about Jesus, we often think of his miracles, including the instances when he brought people back to life. These events were powerful and profound, demonstrating Jesus’ divine power over life and death. In this article, we’ll explore the stories of when Jesus brought someone back to life.

The Widow’s Son

One of the most well-known stories of Jesus bringing someone back to life is found in the book of Luke. In Chapter 7, Jesus comes across a funeral procession for a young man who was the only son of a widow. The woman is understandably devastated by her loss, as she now has no one to care for her in her old age.

As soon as Jesus sees the woman and hears her weeping, he is moved with compassion. He approaches the funeral procession and touches the coffin, telling the young man to “Arise!” The young man sits up and begins talking, much to the amazement of everyone present.

This miracle caused many people in the surrounding area to believe in Jesus and spread his message throughout all of Judea.

Another well-known story is found in John Chapter 11. Lazarus was a friend of Jesus’ who had fallen ill and died before Jesus arrived at his home. When Jesus finally arrived, Lazarus had already been dead for four days.

Despite this fact, Jesus instructed Lazarus’ sisters to roll away the stone that covered his tomb. Then he prayed aloud before shouting “Lazarus, come out!” To everyone’s amazement, Lazarus walked out of his tomb alive and well.

This miracle caused even more people to believe in Jesus and led some religious leaders to plot against him because they feared losing their influence over their followers.

Jairus’ Daughter

In Mark Chapter 5, Jairus was a synagogue leader who came to Jesus begging for help. His young daughter was dying, and he believed that if Jesus could lay his hands on her, she would be healed.

As Jesus made his way to Jairus’ home, a crowd of people followed him. Along the way, someone told Jairus that his daughter had already died. But Jesus reassured him and continued on to the house.

When they arrived, Jesus took only a few people with him into the room where the girl lay. He took her by the hand and said “Talitha koum,” which means “Little girl, I say to you, arise!” The girl immediately got up and began walking around.

This miracle left Jairus and his family in awe of Jesus’ power and led many others to believe in him as well.

These stories of when Jesus brought someone back to life are powerful reminders of his divine power and compassion for humanity. They serve as a testament to the truth of his message and continue to inspire countless people today.

As we reflect on these stories, let us remember that through our faith in Jesus Christ, we too can experience new life and hope for our future.
