Who Produced Jesus His Life?

The Bible as a Source of Information

When it comes to the life of Jesus, the Bible is the main source of information. The New Testament, in particular, contains the four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John – which detail Jesus’ birth, ministry, teachings, death, and resurrection.

The Gospel Writers

The four Gospel writers were not eyewitnesses to all the events that they recorded. However, they did have access to people who were present during Jesus’ lifetime. They used these sources to compile their accounts of Jesus’ life.

Matthew was a tax collector who became one of Jesus’ disciples. He wrote his Gospel with a Jewish audience in mind and focused on how Jesus fulfilled Old Testament prophecies.

Mark was a close associate of Peter and wrote his Gospel based on Peter’s recollections of Jesus’ life and teachings. His Gospel is concise and fast-paced.

Luke was a physician who accompanied Paul on some of his missionary journeys. He wrote his Gospel as well as the book of Acts. His account is detailed and includes many stories about Jesus’ interactions with people from all walks of life.

John was one of Jesus’ closest disciples and wrote his Gospel later in life. His account focuses on the divine nature of Jesus and includes many of Jesus’ teachings about Himself.

Other Sources

While the Bible is the primary source for information about Jesus’ life, there are other sources that provide insight into His world and culture. These include:

  • The writings of Josephus – A Jewish historian who lived in the first century AD. He mentions Jesus in two passages in his books Antiquities of the Jews.
  • The Dead Sea Scrolls – A collection of Jewish texts that were discovered in the 1940s.

They provide insight into the religious beliefs and practices of Jews during Jesus’ time.

  • The writings of Philo – A Jewish philosopher who lived in Alexandria, Egypt. His writings provide insight into the Hellenistic culture that influenced Jews during Jesus’ time.

While we may not know everything about Jesus’ life, the Bible provides us with a wealth of information about Him. The Gospel writers, who had access to eyewitnesses and other sources, recorded His teachings and actions for future generations to learn from and be inspired by.

Other sources also provide insight into His world and culture. By studying these sources, we can gain a deeper understanding of who Jesus was and what He stood for.
