Jesus Christ, the Son of God, revealed Himself in many different ways to His disciples during His time on earth. But why did He do this?

The Purpose of Jesus’ Revelations
One reason why Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples was to strengthen their faith. The disciples had left everything they had known to follow Him, and they needed reassurance that they were on the right path. By revealing Himself to them in various ways, Jesus showed them that He was indeed the Messiah they had been waiting for.
Revelations through Miracles
One way in which Jesus revealed Himself was through miracles. He performed many signs and wonders, such as healing the sick and feeding the multitudes. These miracles were not only evidence of His power but also served as a testament to His divinity.
- Healing of the Blind: In John 9:1-7, Jesus healed a man who was born blind by spitting on the ground and making mud with saliva. He then applied the mud to the man’s eyes and instructed him to wash it off in a nearby pool.
The man was healed instantly and his sight was restored.
- Feeding of the Multitudes: In John 6:1-14, Jesus fed a crowd of over 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. Not only did He provide for their physical needs, but He also demonstrated His divine power by multiplying the food miraculously.
Revelations through Teachings
Another way in which Jesus revealed Himself was through His teachings. He spoke with authority on matters related to God’s kingdom and shared parables that illustrated important truths about God’s character and His plan for humanity.
- The Parable of the Good Samaritan: In Luke 10:25-37, Jesus told the story of a man who was robbed and left for dead on the side of the road. Two religious leaders passed by him without helping, but a Samaritan, who was despised by Jews at that time, stopped to help him.
Through this parable, Jesus taught His disciples about the importance of loving their neighbors as themselves.
- The Sermon on the Mount: In Matthew 5-7, Jesus delivered one of His most famous teachings. He spoke about topics such as humility, forgiveness, and righteousness. He also gave instructions on how to pray and warned against false prophets.
Revelations through His Resurrection
The most significant revelation of all was when Jesus revealed Himself to His disciples after His resurrection. This event validated everything He had taught them and proved that He truly was who He claimed to be.
In John 20:11-18, Mary Magdalene went to Jesus’ tomb and found that it was empty. She then saw Jesus standing there, although she did not recognize Him at first. When He spoke her name, she realized who He was and fell at His feet in worship.
Jesus also appeared to His disciples multiple times after His resurrection. In Luke 24:36-43, He showed them His hands and feet, which still bore the wounds from His crucifixion. This confirmed that it was indeed Him who had been crucified and raised from the dead.
